When you feel down and don’t know what to do, we’re here to help.
Kids and teens are dealing with a lot more tough stuff these days, and they need help fast!
That’s why we made One Stop Talk. It’s a free service that gives you quick access to mental health support, wherever you are in Ontario. Our therapists come from many different backgrounds, just like the people they help, and they make sure everyone feels safe and understood.
Who is One Stop Talk for?
Any child or teen under 18 years of age in Ontario can use One Stop Talk to talk to a therapist for about an hour, and if you need more support, we can connect you to other services.
Parents and caregivers can join the session with their child to make sure they get the help they need.
You can connect with us in English or French. If you speak a different language, you can ask for an interpreter before you connect with the therapist. Until then, you might need a friend or family member to help you with the chat.
We’re here for everyone—no matter who you are or where you’re from. No issue is too big or small, if it’s important to you, it’s important to us.
Please note: One Stop Talk is not a crisis line. If you are in an active crisis (i.e. a danger to yourselves or others) should reach out to crisis lines such as Kids Help Phone, 911 or 988 (suicide hot line).
Our Story: The Big, Bold Idea
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it became harder for kids, teens, and families in Ontario to get the mental health support they needed, and waitlists for help kept getting longer.
That’s when a group of 31 organizations came together to create One Stop Talk/Parlons maintenant (OST/PM). They had a big idea: to make a virtual counseling service for young people, so they could get help no matter where they were. Since then, One Stop Talk has provided quick and easy access to top-quality mental health support across Ontario. If more help is needed, we can also guide or refer you to a local service for more support.
This service, funded by the Ministry of Health, is part of Ontario’s plan to make mental health care easier to access. It’s all about making sure young people get the right kind of support when and where they need it.
About our therapists
One Stop Talk connects child, youth and families with a team of therapists who are registered health professionals that can provide psychotherapy services.
Our therapists are experts in giving focused help in a single session, and they regularly undergo reviews and meet with supervisors to make sure they’re offering the best care.
One Stop Talk also has a working group of mental health professionals dedicated to continuous improvement and skill development of the team.
